HIST 441 - American Environmental History (3 units) American attitudes and policies toward the environment emphasizing themes of exploitation, preservation and conservation from the Puritans to the late 20th century ecological movement.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 ; CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 or CH 212 ; Junior or Senior standing.
Units of Lecture: 3 Core Status: General Capstone Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to analyze, evaluate, and interpret primary sources. 2. Students will be able to analyze and clearly explain the argument, main points, and use of evidence in secondary sources. 3. Students will be able to clearly and effectively articulate an original interpretation in verbal and written form. 4. Students will be able to identify American attitudes and policies toward the environment from the Puritans to the late 20th century.
