ATMS 497 - Senior Thesis

Integration of atmospheric sciences subdiscipline, other physical and natural sciences, mathematics and humanities in a directed research problem.

Prerequisite(s): ATMS 317 ; ATMS 360 ; completion of General Education requirements; Junior or Senior standing.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to integrate Quantitative Reasoning and Critical Analysis & Use of Information to formulate and carry out a research project.
2. Students will be able to synthesize information and techniques from previous coursework across disciplines to identify and use the basic materials and resources needed to carry out a research project.
3. Students will be able to communicate the results of Senior Thesis research orally and in writing, following the standards of scholarly articles in Atmospheric Science.
4. Students will be able to articulate and follow ethical principles in a scientific context, including following professional standards of laboratory practice, communicating literature research without plagiarism, and giving appropriate credit to collaborators.
