BIOL 621 - Conservation Biology (3 units)
Theory and application or scientific principles to the preservation of biological diversity and the sustainable use of natural resources. Local and global issues are addressed. (BIOL 621 and NRES 621 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to explain the threats to biological diversity and consequences of biodiversity loss.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate how ecological, evolutionary, and ethical principles apply to conservation problems.
3. Students will be able to discuss relevant policy and law as it relates to the conservation of biological diversity.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in assessment, analysis, and synthesis of conservation issues through effective written and verbal communication.
