CEE 442 - Fundamentals of Geotechnical Engineering

(3 to 4 units)
Weight-volume relationships and soil compaction; permeability and seepage; consolidation and settlement; shear strength and application to lateral earth pressure, bearing capacity and slope stability. (CEE 442 and GE 442 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)

Corequisite(s): CEE 372  with a “C” or better.

Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
2. Students will be able to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
