CEE 445 - Retaining Structures Design (3 units) Rigid and flexible earth retaining structures: rigid, anchored bulkhead, braced cut, tie-back cut, slurry trench and MSE (metallic and geosynthetic) walls with applications to infrastructure projects.
Prerequisite(s): CEE 442 with a “C” or better.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will have an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. 2. Students will have an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. 3. Students will have an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 4. Students will have a knowledge of contemporary issues.
