CHS 371 - Applied Kinesiology (4 units) Analysis of movement, structure and function of skeletal muscles, comparison of movement patterns, purposes, relationship to health and psychosocial components.
Prerequisite(s): CHS 101 ; CHS 102 ; CHS 200 ; CHS 330 ; or, Junior or Senior standing. Corequisite(s): BIOL 224A and BIOL 224L .
Units of Lecture: 3 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Fall, Spring, and Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of basic biomechanical principles and how they are applied to human movement. 2. Students will be able to identify normal movement patterns of each region of the body and the body as a whole. 3. Students will be able to analyze both simple and complex body movements. 4. Students will be able to analyze and describe joint movements and muscle actions during specific body movements. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of how abnormal movement patterns can lead to injuries, pathologies or decreased human performance.
