CHS 723 - Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases (3 units) Epidemiological methods used in the research, identification, prevention, and control of infectious diseases.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Odd Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to describe the history, principals, goals, and methods used in Infectious Disease Epidemiology. 2. Students will be able to critically evaluate and synthesize scientific literature. 3. Students will be able to evaluate, justify, and apply appropriate methodological and analytical approaches to address public health research questions in Infectious Disease Epidemiology. 4. Students will be able to effectively defend research methodology and findings through concise scientific writing and oral presentations. 5. Students will be able to interpret results from statistical analyses of epidemiologic studies. 6. Students will be able to examine biologic models of disease etiololgy.
