ECON 657 - Law and Economics

Examines economic efficiency implications and objectives of legal institutions and legal rulemaking; including common law, public regulation of the market and legal procedures.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts involved in common law jurisprudence with an emphasis on property law, contracts, torts and family law.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the relationship between law, ethics, morals, and economic efficiency.
3. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the relationship between legal processes, economic efficiency and the Coase Theorem.
