EDUC 680 - Multicultural Concerns in Diverse Educational Settings

In-depth comparative examination of issues related to educational equity and social justice in pluralistic communities in the United States and around the world.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to identify the challenges and possibilities that the changing school demographics pose on education/educators.
2. Students will be able to recognize the connections between culture, identity, and education.
3. Students will be able to critically examine the current leading discussions on globalization and citizenship and develop a framework for attending to the needs of culturally diverse students.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to translate into practice key elements of multicultural education theory.
5. Students will be able to demonstrate expertise in an area of multicultural education theory or practice of special relevance to you.
6. Students will be able to document ongoing growth as a reflective practitioner engaged in lifelong learning and discovery.
