EDUC 770 - Master’s Seminar in Educational Specialties (3 units) Trends and issues in educational research, policy, and practice that affect classroom teachers. Assists understanding and utilization of professional literature in educational specialty areas.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of current critical educational issues. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to use basic library research skills. 3. Students will be able to access and use scholarly literature for the purpose of understanding, developing, and defending a position on a substantive educational issue. 4. Students will be able to identify and distinguish among types of scholarly sources/publications (e.g., research, theory, policy, practitioner/applied). 5. Students will be able to present a synthesis and evaluation of a critical educational issue. 6. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of key educational organizations and organizations specific to students’ disciplines. 7. Students will be able to choose areas of inquiry that are of personal and professional interest, as well as of educational importance.
