EL 715 - Supervision and Evaluation of Teaching (3 units) Approaches to improving and safeguarding quality of instruction through classroom observation and feedback, staff development, action research and accountability in personnel decision making.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to develop or refine a foundation of research-based knowledge about teacher effectiveness. 2. Students will be able to articulate concepts and principles of supervision and evaluation. 3. Students will be able to use tools and strategies needed to analyze classroom instruction. 4. Students will be able to create and provide feedback to teachers and, when needed, to prescribe appropriate remediation for ineffective performance. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of teacher evaluation. 6. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of staff development and action research. 7. Students will be able to demonstrate refined skills of oral and written communication.
