EL 725 - Public School Finance

Study of local, state and federal revenue sources used to support public education. State aid, taxation and current issues are emphasized.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of key issues related to public school finance related to district level school finance.
2. Students will be able to analyze, interpret, and summarize financial data, trends, and implications for planning budgets for school districts.
3. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of funding sources, taxation, and legal requirement related to school finance.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the economics and finance of K-12 and higher education, including methods of financing public education and contemporary policy issues regarding school.
5. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of effective management of resources to align with district vision and mission.
6. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the role of various stakeholder groups in budgeting and finance.
