COM 484 - Political Communication (3 units) Analysis of historical and contemporary political discourse. Addresses such topics as presidential rhetoric, electoral campaigns, ethics in political culture.
Prerequisite(s): COM 113 ; COM 212 . Recommended Preparation: COM 404 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to identify and explain the primary areas of study in political communication. 2. Students will be able to define and explain the primary theories utilized in political communication research. 3. Students will be able to synthesize political communication research. 4. Students will be able to assess the communication components of various political landscapes. 5. Students will be able to evaluate the role of communication in various political contexts. 6. Students will be able to apply political communication research to current and historical political campaigns.
