CHS 747 - Applied Research Methods in Public Health

Practical skills in collecting and examining public health data, designing and executing studies in diverse populations.

Prerequisite(s): CHS 700 ; CHS 712 .

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to apply descriptive techniques commonly used to summarize public health data.
2. Students will be able to apply common statistical methods for inference.
3. Students will be able to develop methods and study designs to answer a particular research question.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate leadership skills for building partnerships.
5. Students will be able to collect, manage and organize data to produce information for different audiences.
6. Students will be able to evaluate situations where consideration of culture-specific needs resulted in a more effective modification or adaptation of a health intervention.
7. Students will be able to develop public health programs and strategies responsive to the diverse cultural values and traditions of the communities being served.
