CHS 727 - Health Policy Approaches to Health Behavior

(3 units)
This purpose of this course is to examine policy initiatives that affect population-level health behaviors and related health outcomes.

Prerequisite(s): Doctoral student standing in the School of Community Health Sciences.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to critically evaluate scientific literature.
2. Students will be able to effectively defend research methodology and findings through concise scientific writing and oral presentations.
3. Students will be able to interpret, evaluate and synthesize the effects of health policy on health behavior and related outcomes.  
4. Students will be able to demonstrate substantive knowledge regarding the influence of social inequalities on health disparities.
5. Students will be able to demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach by integrating an outside academic area into scholarly work.
