CHS 748 - Epidemiologic Surveillance (3 units) Methods and practice of epidemiologic surveillance including theory, practice, field work and computer software application.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the history, principals, goals, and methods used in Epidemiology Surveillance. 2. critically evaluate and synthesize scientific literature. 3. evaluate, justify, and apply appropriate methodological and analytical approaches to address public health research questions in Epidemiology Surveillance. 4. effectively defend research methodology and findings through concise scientific writing and oral presentations. 5. interpret results from statistical analyses of epidemiologic studies. 6. apply ethical principles pertaining to the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of public health data.
