ENG 464B - Drama Before Shakespeare

Emphasizes the large body of important drama of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 303  or Junior standing.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. write lucid, well-constructed arguments analyzing and interpreting texts.
2. analyze a literary work in its cultural and historical contexts.
3. articulate the premises and assumptions of different critical approaches and apply them to poems using literary-critical vocabulary.
4. describe and analyze important ideas and stylistic features of pre-Shakespearean drama.
5. evaluate characteristics of specific authors, genres, and literary styles.
