FREN 212 - Second Year French II (3 units) Structural review, conversation and writing, readings in modern literature. Completion of FREN 212 satisfies the College of Liberal Arts foreign language requirement.
Prerequisite(s): FREN 211.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate comprehension of short films/videos in French (at the Intermediate to Advanced level) and answer questions on the content of such video materials. 2. talk about everyday topics such as work, school, family, interests, memories at a Novice High or Intermediate Low/Medium level in both the present and past tenses. 3. write short paragraphs about themselves or others (concerning a variety of everyday topics such as work, school, family, interests) in both the present and past tenses. 4. demonstrate refinement in understanding both predictions about the future and hypothetical situations. 5. interview other classmates by composing simple questions of various sorts. 6. compare and contrast American and French/Franchophone cultures. 7. demonstrate enhanced knowledge of the basic rules of French grammar and use them in writing and speaking.
