GE 442 - Fundamentals of Geotechnical Engineering (3 to 4 units) Weight-volume relationships and soil compaction; permeability and seepage; consolidation and settlement; shear strength and application to lateral earth pressure, bearing capacity and slope stability. (CEE 442 and GE 442 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)
Prerequisite(s): CEE 372 with a “C” or better.
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. 2. design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. 3. use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
