HIST 613 - US From 1815 To 1877 (3 units) Political, social and cultural developments of the Jacksonian era; westward expansion and sectional conflict; causes and impact of the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. analyze and interpret primary sources from nineteenth-century America through discussions, written assignments, and oral presentations. 2. explain the expansion and division of the United States and the cultural valences for diverse Americans in different parts of the nation. 3. synthesize, analyze, and convey complex historical information by means of a final project.
