HIST 688B - Landscape of Lake Tahoe (3 units) Interdisciplinary perspectives on the creation, history, and perception of Lake Tahoe. Local field study possible. (GEOG 688B and HIST 688B are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. integrate skills of written, oral, and visual communication to analyze and document the origins and current environmental challenges of Lake Tahoe. 2. explain the ways that landscape is both a physical and a cultural creation. 3. articulate and evaluate diverse cultural, national, and international influences on a local landscape. 4. apply appropriate geographical and historical methodologies to understand why Lake Tahoe looks the way that it does today. 5. analyze and synthesize the impact of political, social, and economic systems on a local landscape.
