CHS 713 - Epidemiology III (3 units) Designed to provide a theoretical foundation and the practical tools necessary for addressing challenges to causal inference in epidemiological research.
Prerequisite(s): A master of Public Health (MPH) or related degree.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. critically evaluate and synthesize scientific literature. 2. evaluate, justify, and apply appropriate methodological and analytical approaches to address public health research questions. 3. analyze data using classic and modern approaches appropriate for various study designs using software packages such as SAS, R, STATA, SPlus, and WinBUGS. 4. interpret results from statistical analyses of epidemiologic studies. 5. construct and evaluate models for causal inference and demonstrate their practical application to epidemiologic data.
