ENG 297 - Reading and Interpreting (3 units) Methods for creating personal, critical responses to literature representing a range of time periods and genres.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. analyze a broad range of specific literary genres (e.g., poetry, drama, fiction, nonfiction) and historical periods (e.g., Early Modern, Romanticism, Naturalism). 2. employ literary terminology appropriate to the study of various genres. 3. articulate the relationships among authors, texts, and readers. 4. engage in close reading and critical interpretation of a wide range of texts across different genres.
