MSE 433 - Electronic, Magnetic and Optical Properties of Materials (3 units) Electron transport, elementary band theory, photonic interactions, and magnetism as it relates to the crystal lattice and the microstructure of metallic, polymeric, and ceramic materials.
Prerequisite(s): MSE 250 ; PHYS 181 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 2. apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. 3. develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
