EL 772 - Organizational Management in Athletic Administration (3 units) The course provides analysis of an athletics department’s internal operations. Topics include the roles of Director of Athletics, Sport Administrators, Senior Woman Administrator and other members of the staff.
Prerequisite(s): EL 750 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify and discuss current sociological, financial, and educational issues facing athletics at the intercollegiate level. 2. analyze theories, models, and practical applications in the relationship between intercollegiate athletics and higher education. 3. discuss the role of the Director of Athletics, Senior Management Team, and internal leadership and management of an intercollegiate athletics department. 4. evaluate issues relating to the management of an intercollegiate athletics department. 5. identify each area within the athletics department and their relationship to the student-athlete performance. 6. apply theories of management, leadership, and organizational behavior to athletics administration.
