EL 715 - Supervision and Evaluation of Teaching (3 units) Approaches to improving and safeguarding quality of instruction through classroom observation and feedback, staff development, action research and accountability in personnel decision making.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. develop or refine a foundation of research-based knowledge about teacher effectiveness. 2. articulate concepts and principles of supervision and evaluation. 3. use tools and strategies needed to analyze classroom instruction. 4. create and provide feedback to teachers and, when needed, to prescribe appropriate remediation for ineffective performance. 5. demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of teacher evaluation. 6. demonstrate knowledge of staff development and action research. 7. demonstrate refined skills of oral and written communication.
