ENG 616 - Linguistic Field Methods (3 units) Procedures in eliciting, recording and analyzing language. Students work with consultants.
Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Internship/Practicum: 1 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate appropriate use and synthesis of linguistic field methods in collecting and organizing linguistic data. 2. apply linguistic principles and theories to language data they have obtained. 3. articulate the ethical considerations associated with human-subjects research, and explain how to mitigate them. 4. demonstrate mastery of primary data and/or secondary literature through a research project.
