ENG 717 - Old English (3 units) Introduction to Old English language and literature.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to graduate standing in the department of English.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate their mastery of Old English grammar, vocabulary and sound changes. 2. apply their knowledge of the grammar as they work with a synthetic language. 3. demonstrate their ability to translate Old English prose and poetry. 4. synthesize their translations and the relevant secondary literature to write a well-crafted research paper.
