GEOG 689 - East Asia (3 units) Regional and national analysis of the physical, political and cultural geography of China, Japan, and Korea. Comparison of varied development experiences.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. summarize historical patterns and developments in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese culture, economy, politics, demography and settlement from the 1st Chinese empire through the mid-19th century. 2. analyze these regional patterns using geographical concepts. 3. apply critical thinking, writing, and creative skills to analyze cultural and social relationships and processes in a regional context.
