GEOL 468 - Advanced Sedimentology

The advanced study of sediments and sedimentary rocks, fluid flows, sediment transport, and basin analysis.

Prerequisite(s): GEOL 202 GEOL 211 GEOL 212 GEOL 332

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. use and understand all relevant sedimentary rock classification systems.
2. describe and identify sedimentary rocks in thin-section, and describe and understand microscopic texture and minerlogy.
3. demonstrate understanding of the details of sediment transport in a variety of media and conditions, and will be able to apply that to sedimentary rocks.
