GPH 692 - Applied Geophysics (4 units) Application of geophysics to energy and groundwater resources, waste management, and site characterization. Includes gravity, magnetic, electrical, and seismic methods; required Spring Break field exercise.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply quantitative reasoning as well as critical analysis and use of information to analyze geophysical data and make a well-reasoned defense of results. 2. apply information and techniques from previous coursework across disciplines to plan, mobilize, and complete a geophysical field investigation. 3. describe the results of a geophysical field investigation in professional report format appropriate to the geosciences. 4. describe fundamental geophysical characterization methods and perform basic analysis on data derived from these methods.
