MUS 617 - Vocal Pedagogy (2 units) Survey of singing instruction and theory for the voice teacher. Observation and practice of individual teaching technique.
Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Spring - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify at a higher level the anatomical function of the vocal and breathing mechanisms as it relates to singing. 2. examine at a higher level a variety of singing/breathing theories and instructional practices employed by voice teacher. 3. observe and assess applied lessons taught by professionals in the field and performances of singers with varying levels of technical development. 4. demonstrate practical experience in teaching applied voice.
