NURS 754 - Management of Complex Illness in the Primary Care Setting (4 units) Synthesis and practicum application of the FNP role in primary care settings. Builds upon Primary Care I, II, and III. Includes clients across the lifespan.
Grading Basis: S/U only Units of Internship/Practicum: 4 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. utilize knowledge, skills and theory from previous coursework and current evidence to assess, diagnose, and manage complex healthcare conditions. 2. refine and implement comprehensive health education, promotion and maintenance interventions to clients and their families. 3. participate with faculty and preceptors in the clinical management of complicated healthcare conditions. 4. formulate approaches to care (including palliative care) that include traditional and integrative/complementary therapies. 5. integrate principles and management strategies that address pain and suffering in chronic/terminal illness. 6. fully integrate the competencies of the nine (9) NONPF domains of Nurse Practitioner Practice into the clinical setting.
