PSY 335 - Psychology of Aging (3 units) Introduction to theories and research on the aging process. Practical applications. (GERO 442 and PSY 442 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the concepts of “aging” and “development” are defined and studied by psychologists. 2. describe contemporary theories and research methods relevant to the study of adult development and aging. 3. describe the effects of “aging” on behavioral, cognitive, and psychosocial processes throughout the adult life-span. 4. describe the plasticity of functioning in late life and how lifestyle and the environment can affect the aging process. 5. apply course material to one’s own development and/or the development of others.
