SPAN 440 - Seminar in Hispanic Literature (3 units) Special topics in Hispanic literature.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. analyze the subcultures, political contexts, cultural differences and such issues as oppression within the history of Spain or Latin America. 2. define key authors, movements, and concepts in the narrative, drama, and/or poetry of Spain or Latin America. 3. evaluate the ways in which a variety of historical and political conflicts influence and inform contemporary global problems and affect their current situation. 4. establish analytical comparisons between films and literary texts. 5. examine Peninsular or Latin-American literature and address such issues as race, class, gender, and national identity.
