EDSP 678 - Language Development/Disorders for Special Education Teachers

Sequences and processes of language development from infancy through school-age years and current educational strategies to address language disorders.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. discuss how theories of language development influence educational practices with children.
2. identify individual differences in langauge development, including those who are developing language in diverse cultures or developing language atypically.
3. describe techniques that educators and clinicians use to measure children’s language achievements.
4. develop classroom language intervention plans appropriate for students with language disorders comorbid with diagnoses of autism, intellectual disabilities, and cerebral palsy.
