AGSC 660 - Introduction to Plant Breeding (3 units)
This course explores the history and methods of plant breeding, and introduces students to the cultural and legal ramifications of the art and science of producing the global food supply.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. differentiate between natural and artificial selection as they relate to plant evolution, domestication, and modern breeding.
2. describe methods for inducing synthetic variation (mutations) that will have selection and economic value.
3. demonstrate synthesis of the U + G SLOs to form a novel hypothesis about plant genetic improvement that can be tested by developing the right kind of plant populations and methods.
