EDSP 700 - Foundations of Special Education (3 units) Study of the foundations of special education, with particular emphasis on the knowledge necessary to be a researcher and leader in the special education profession.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate applicable knowledge of the history and legislation of special education, and the extent to which that knowledge is presented to beginning teachers 2. analyze applicable case law in education to explain the impact court decisions have on current special education practice. 3. identify disability advocacy organizations and explain their role in the development of special education role and policy and continuing role in protecting rights of individuals with disabilities.
