EDUC 751 - Social Justice and Education (3 units) Examines struggles for social justice in education. Focuses on critical issues in education policy, curriculum and pedagogy, and social movements in order to develop skills of engaged scholarship and educational practice.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Even Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify and interpret the links between identity, power, difference, and political economy in producing educational inequalities and social (in)justice. 2. critically analyze the social production of institutional and structural barriers facing movements and struggles for social justice in education. 3. implement strategies to promote social justice through scholarship, educational practice, or activism.
