ENG 477C - Genre Studies in Film (3 units) Studies the generic conventions and approaches of specific cinematic genres such as horror, action, suspense, science fiction, film noir, romantic comedy, gangster, avant-garde, documentary, or the western.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply critical thinking skills to issues related to film genres. 2. identify and apply, in discussion and/or writing, appropriate methods or theories to cinematic texts. 3. situate the specialized topic in its appropriate historical, cultural, and political contexts.
