MSE 476 - Phase-field Modeling of Physical Phenomena (3 units) Introduction to the concept of phase-field modeling to study various physical phenomena. It gives hands-on information on state-of-the-art numerical tools to adapt students into the field of computational engineering.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 285 with “C” or better. Recommended preparation: a good understanding of differential equations and numerical methods.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 2. function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives. 3. develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
