AGSC 618 - Cattle Production & Management (3 units) This course will cover relevant principles of cattle management. Topics include production systems, breeds, health, nutrition, reproduction, lactation physiology, business management, and contemporary challenges associated with beef and dairy cattle.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe cattle production systems in USA. 2. demonstrate application of managerial skills and production techniques through hands-on exercises during laboratory practicals. 3. define cattle breeds employed in the beef and dairy industries of USA. 4. articulate the principles of management of beef and dairy cattle. 5. evaluate the challenges and success of beef and dairy cattle enterprises. 6. evaluate reproductive, nutritional, and health management of beef and dairy cattle enterprises. 7. discuss the importance and the challenges of the cattle industry. 8. critically examine several aspects of cattle management.
