Prerequisite(s): Two from CH 201 , CH 202  or CH 212 , CH 203 ; Junior or Senior standing.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. use writing as a tool for communicating about, organizing, and understanding literary readings.
2. relate literary works to their cultural or historical contexts.
3. describe different possible interpretations of a given work of literature.
4. analyze texts with attention to thematic content and formal or stylistic choices.
5. distinguish and discuss the features of different genres and their conventions.
6. articulate patterns and problems in American literature and culture, specifically those related to pluralism and diversity.
