GEOG 677 - Geography and Film (3 units) The connection between cinema and physical and cultural landscapes, concentrating on the techniques of geographical film critique.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply techniques of geographic film critique to research the historical and/or contemporary global context of various films. 2. demonstrate how local and global geographic contexts affect the understanding of events or issues presented in film. 3. integrate Effective Composition & Communications skills (CO1) and Critical Analysis & Use of Information (CO3) to critically examine a geographical film theme (visual literacy, acceptable writing skills, show capabilities in research methods). 4. synthesize information and techniques from previous coursework across disciplines to propose and explore global, regional, and local geographical themes in film.
