THTR 471 - Acting Studies: Musical Theatre (3 units) Background and development of the musical theatre form. Practical experience in the basic vocal and movement skills, the audition process and performance techniques.

Prerequisite(s): THTR 274 and musical theatre major.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 1 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 2 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in singing, including vocal range, pitch, breath support and vocal styles. 2. create characters convincingly and project one’s self believably in word and action into imaginary circumstances of a musical. 3. recall and execute choreography.
