AGSC 430 - Animal Genetics and Breeding (3 units) Basic principles of animal breeding, including genetics, population genetics, animal selection, heritability, basic statistics, and biotechnology tools. Examples: breeding of farm, companion, and laboratory animals to illustrate the importance of breeding.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 191A . Corequisite(s): BIOL 300 .

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. discuss animal breeding, its consequences, and its importance. 2. apply genetic principles to animal breeding. 3. analyze the effects of various factors that affect animal breeding. 4. evaluate the status, characteristics, and consequences of technologies available for animal breeding.
