EDSC 408 - Classroom Management (6-12)

Teacher candidates explore theoretical foundations of classroom management and application of best practices in highly effective classrooms. Also includes organization of time, materials, classroom space, individual and large group settings, and transitions. 

Corequisite(s): EDSC 483  or CTL 699B .

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. develop a classroom management plan that demonstrates current strategies and conveys the crucial role of the classroom manager in facilitating learning in today’s classroom.
2. create classroom procedures, routines and rules based off of current teaching experience, case studies and course discussions and identify how these rules and procedures will operate. 
3. develop a personal management style through the analysis of case studies and self-reflections from current teaching experiences.
4. explore the foundational theories of classroom management through readings, classroom discussions and classroom experiences.
5. examine the unique development of the adolescent learner and how students may be affected by developmental processes.
