MUS 690 - Research Methods in Music (3 units) Research methods: archival research, secondary research, musical analysis, textual criticism, and ethnography. Apply written and oral communication skills in a specific area of musical practice to a graduate-level research project.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe and evaluate a broad range of music research methods. 2. critically read, write, and speak about music with theoretical knowledge and analytical sophistication. 3. design and generate a research project based on their acquired music research skills.
