SCI 650 - Molecular Pharmacology (3 units)
The molecular pharmacology of small molecules and biologics. The molecular biochemistry of drugs used in antimicrobial and cancer chemotherapy, immunopharmacology, cell-based therapies and gene editing therapies.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. articulate a research question in molecular pharmacology and describe it in the format of a grant proposal with appropriate literature review.
2. explain the molecular biochemistry of drugs used in antimicrobial and cancer chemotherapy, immunopharmacology, cell-based therapies and gene editing therapies.
3. describe the basic concepts involved in drug discovery.
4. choose and explore the requirements of granting agencies, and prepare a grant proposal with all necessary elements of a successful proposal.
