EDSP 463 - Assessment and Instruction in K-12 Math for Struggling Learners (3 units) Methods for assessing mathematics skills. Assessment results applied to curriculum/instructional practices. Does not fulfill methods requirement for elementary education or secondary math education majors.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Integrated Elementary teaching program.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Even Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. find and share scholarly empirical research articles investigating the effectiveness of math instruction approaches. 2. design and present short math lessons based on posing tasks and questions, rather than direct instruction, to help students build mathematical concepts and procedures. 3. make math instruction recommendations based on assessment data.
